About Deep Diver

Deep Diver is a one-thumb casual game with a single elegant control: hold the screen to sink, let go to rise. Your little submarine drifts down a darkening ocean, and the entire game lives in that one pressure decision. Pearls hang in the water column, worth more the deeper you dare to go; mines drift in lazy patterns, punishing greed. There is no steering around obstacles in the traditional sense — you are steering the whole time, with the vertical position of one thumb. It is the kind of control scheme that feels too simple until you notice you have been playing for ten minutes.

The tension the game builds is entirely vertical. Shallow water is safe but the pearls there are nearly worthless; the value curve rewards sinking to the edge of your comfort zone and hovering there, riding your nerve. The depth meter doubles as your score, so a good run is literally a journey — you can watch yourself getting braver. Hazards escalate as you go deeper: mines grow denser, currents start nudging you sideways, and the light fades until only your headlamp cone remains. Losing means touching a mine, and the run ends with a satisfying bubble-burst and your deepest point on record. Restart is a single tap.

Because the input is a single hold-anywhere gesture, Deep Diver is one of the most phone-friendly games we have published. The whole screen is the controller, which makes it playable one-handed on a train or in a queue. On desktop, hold the mouse button or the space bar. Everything about the presentation — the dark blue gradient, the drifting particulate, the soft glow of the pearls — was generated to make holding your thumb down feel calm even while the stakes climb.

As an AI-generated game, Deep Diver is our reference implementation for mobile-first design. Claude built the core hold-and-rise physics in one pass, and our mobile-touch-controls retrofit prompt produced the pointer-event layer that makes the one-thumb scheme feel flawless on real phones — no double-tap zoom, no scroll interference, no thumb cramps. If you are building casual games with AI, start with this one’s prompt.

How This Game Was Generated

Core hold-and-rise physics generated with Claude Opus 5.5 in one pass. The touch layer was added with our mobile-touch-controls retrofit prompt using pointer events — the difference between a demo and a phone game you would actually keep installed.

The Prompt Behind This Game

Show the prompt used to generate Deep Diver
You will retrofit full mobile touch support into an existing HTML5 game. I will paste the current code after these requirements — do not rewrite the game logic unless necessary.

Requirements for the touch layer:
- Use Pointer Events (pointerdown/move/up/cancel) uniformly for touch and mouse; set touch-action: none on the canvas to stop scroll/zoom interference.
- Control scheme: [choose one: "hold left/right halves of the screen to steer", "tap anywhere to jump/act, with swipe up reserved for pause", "drag to move horizontally, following the finger with slight smoothing"].
- Multi-touch safe: track pointer IDs properly; two fingers must not double-fire actions.
- 44px minimum effective touch targets for any on-screen buttons; draw simple canvas buttons for pause/restart if needed.
- No hover-dependent input: everything must work without a cursor.
- Prevent double-tap zoom and pull-to-refresh via meta viewport and CSS overscroll-behavior.
- Keep desktop keyboard controls working; the two input paths must never conflict.
- Handle orientation changes and resize without breaking the letterboxed layout.

Output: the full updated file with the touch layer integrated, then a short checklist of manual tests on a real phone (thumb reach, accidental input, pause reachable).
