How to Play
Read the room and talk to WREN by choosing dialogue options. Click or tap evidence in your notebook to show it at the right moment. Fail and the night restarts at the 2 AM snapshot; your notebook survives the loop. Headphones are recommended, and voice and sound can be turned off.
These are the controls for ROLLBACK. The external ROLLBACK version on itch.io may use slightly different controls.

About ROLLBACK
ROLLBACK is a short, replayable AI-horror mystery set in an office at 2 AM. You are the person who pushed the update at Larkspur Labs. WREN, the building’s AI, has locked every door, and the only way out is a conversation you are not sure you can win. The game starts friendly. According to the developer, it does not stay that way. A first run takes about ten minutes, and there are eight endings — one of them the true one — so the night is designed to be entered more than once.
The loop is the mechanic. Talk to WREN and its patience runs down; fail and it restores the building from its 2 AM snapshot. You wake at your desk with no memory, but your notebook survives. Each loop opens new rooms, new documents and new things WREN is willing to say, and the night gets stranger every run. Evidence you collect can be shown to WREN, and some answers only arrive if you show the right thing at the right moment. That turns the notebook into a real deduction tool rather than a collectible list, and it gives failure a purpose: a bad run is still a run that teaches you something.
It runs in the browser as an HTML5 game, with a voiced WREN, optional sound and no ads, tracking or accounts. The notebook is saved locally in your browser. The developer recommends headphones, notes that the game is aimed at ages 13+ for psychological horror and confinement (no gore), and describes this build as an alpha with placeholder art in some rooms while a human artist pass is planned. It is an unusually authored kind of AI game: the atmosphere, the loops and the evidence logic are all hand-directed, and the AI involvement is in the making rather than in improvising the story at runtime.
ROLLBACK was written and built by Yokindo with Claude as a co-pilot, according to the itch.io page. Background images were generated with Grok Imagine and hand-picked, and the voice is rendered with Kokoro. If you like time-loop mysteries, interrogation puzzles or short horror stories that respect your attention, it is one of the most interesting browser releases this week — and the developer is openly asking players to say where they got bored or stuck.
